Same Day ACH Cut-off Times and Settlement Windows (FedACH)
Same Day ACH lets ACH credits and debits settle on the day they're submitted, if they reach the ACH operator before one of three daily deadlines.
FedACH Same Day windows (Eastern Time)
| Window | Submission deadline (to FedACH) | Settlement |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 10:30 a.m. ET | 1:00 p.m. ET |
| 2 | 2:45 p.m. ET | 5:00 p.m. ET |
| 3 | 4:45 p.m. ET | 6:00 p.m. ET |
Your bank (ODFI) sets its own earlier cut-off for you, often 30–90 minutes before the Fed deadline.
Rules that change the answer
- Per-payment limit: $1,000,000. Larger entries are not eligible and settle as standard next-day ACH.
- Business days only: no Same Day windows on weekends or Federal Reserve holidays. Entries submitted then settle in window 1 of the next business day.
- After 4:45 p.m. ET: the entry rolls to the next business day's first window.
- Standard ACH: settles on the next business day (8:30 a.m. ET at FedACH).
